Kapiʻolani New Media Arts Animation cohort's capstone project taps into world culture in this year's Practicum short, Daydreamer. Based on his experiences attending prathom (primary school) in Thailand, writer and director Pongsatorn “Vinsent” Trairatthitikan draws on animation and storytelling to delve into a theme of creativity and conformity.
Through their combined efforts, six animators– Troy Pascual, Kanaluhaʻaheokonalaniihaliiaekahauoli Pascua, Orion Helligar, Yuma Kim, Hiroaki Yamamoto and Vinsent– collaborated for just over a year to breathe life into their work. Their efforts are a testament to the creativity and dedication of the animators, under the guidance and support of their dedicated instructor, Jake Shimabuku.
We kindly invite you to immerse yourself in the world of our 2023 New Media Arts Animation Practicum short film, Daydreamer. Should you wish to share your thoughts, questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at animate@hawaii.edu.
